Here are two of them. These feet belong to Kurtis and Kiandra *, whose parents are already worried about Christmas. A layoff and a sudden illness have thrown a kink in their budget, and toys simply aren't as important as rent and groceries.

Ricky Estes, financial advisor at Edward Jones, knows firsthand how these kids feel. And he knows how a gift from a compassionate community member can affect a child's life. Ricky states,

" I got to have a normal childhood because of what Harvest House did for me and my family."

Will YOU make a difference in the lives of children like Kurtis and Kiandra? Someday, they'll be grown-up like Ricky, and you will have helped them become who they are, by showing them the love of Christ.

Ways to lower the number to 825:

Donate a gift and drop it by our office before Dec 7th. A child in your life could help pick out a toy they would want.
Select a Holiday Friends "gift tag" and buy a specific item. If you live local and want 10 or more tags for your church or group, we'll deliver them to you.
Host a Holiday Friends Collection Box. Decorate an oversized box and ask your customers, friends, or family to fill the box with unwrapped toys.
Donate a $30 gift card from Academy, Target, Sephora, or Ulta. This will make a teenager very happy on Christmas Day.
Donate to Harvest House monetarily, and we'll do the shopping for you! If you donate on our website, designate "Holiday Friends" in the note section.

Throughout my life’s journey, I have known numerous individuals that have faced all kinds of struggles. Hard times, health, loss of a job, divorce, abuse, death of a loved one, financial burdens … the list is endless when it comes to personal struggles, and we all face them. A false teaching claims that when you become a Christian you will never face trials or tribulations, but this is not true.

When we face life's struggles, our Heavenly Father reminds us that we are to place our trust in Him and to remember that our God is bigger and stronger than any of our struggles. Below are words of encouragement to lift us up during difficult times.

“Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." Psalm 9:9-10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

You don't need to eat in the car for a FOOD DRIVE!

What's a food drive? That's when an individual or an organization collects food items to donate to their favorite nonprofit (Ahem, like Harvest House ). For example:

Schools compete to see which class can collect the most cans.
Businesses give a discount when a bag of food is donated.
Churches set aside a special Sunday to collect dry goods.
Individuals post their own crowd-funding campaign on Social Media.
Coaches challenge their teams to bring a bag of food to practice.

YOU can host a food drive to benefit the most vulnerable residents in our community.

Newsletter - September 6, 2024

Ecclesiastes 3:1 states, "To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, A time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck what was planted." (NKJV)

In a recent time studying the Bible and praying, I sense the Lord letting me know that my season at Harvest House will be ending. He is asking me to take a leap of faith. As a result, on November 7th, I will be stepping down as Executive Director of Harvest House. The past eight years have been deeply rewarding, so this decision has been challenging and heartfelt. I love this organization, I love this community, and I love supporters like YOU.

Harvest House is thriving, and nothing but good things are happening here. God is definitely on the move at Harvest House! The Board of Directors is currently seeking a successor who is Christ-minded and focused on both business and ministry. You can expect a hiring announcement soon, so please spread the word to your friends who might be interested. I highly recommend Harvest House as an employer.

Thank YOU for your continued encouragement. Please save the date to join us at our Harvest Brunch on November 7th. The board and I want to tell you all about the exciting developments planned for 2025.
